When To Re-Brand

When to Re-Brand Your Company

Growth and change are key to businesses that flourish and there are times when things in business must change. How you communicate visually is more important than ever to gain new customers and retain current ones. Consider it a milestone to reach a point when it is time to consider putting on a fresh business face. Companies that have been in business for years may consider rebranding to appeal to the modern consumer, recover from a negative image or even re-structuring after merger or bankruptcy. Have there been changes in the competitive landscape that is impacting your growth potential? Whatever the reason is, once you decide to re-brand there are two main types of rebranding to consider:

A Partial Re-Branding

A partial rebranding may include a new or refreshed logo, business card, brochures and other marketing material upgrades and minor product tweaks.

A Total Re-Branding

A total rebranding includes a total and complete transformation – new logo, new mission statement, new name, new products as well as complete changes to major processes or procedures.

With either choice, think about what you stand for, what values are important to you and the impression you want to make, then consistently apply your values to everything you do. Customer expectations, over time, are shaped by the consistent way in which you do business. Developing a strong and consistent brand begins long before the creative professionals set out and about with their visual ideas. Keeping in mind your brand is more than just great looking graphics, remember it also includes your customers’ overall experience with you. Decide first what makes you different in your market and define your consumer deliverables. Complete any customer surveys and analyze and use the feedback accordingly. Convey that information to the team responsible for visuals and you will be well on your way to attracting new customers, retaining current customers and expanding your brand!
